Sensors - WEBSTOP uses ultrasonic sensors which do not streak the web as many of the ‘paddle type’ web detectors do. These sensors quickly monitor web movement and detect web breaks as soon as they occur. The use of ultrasonic sensors eliminates many common causes of false triggering that you may get with photo sensors. For example, during a blanket wash, or with severe color changes, other systems may create false readings and stop the press. In addition, a built-in time delay and an impressive operating range of 2-5” further eliminates false triggers from web flutter that is common at press start up. Another advantage of ultrasonic sensors is they are also less prone to the effects of ink misting. Up to 60 ultrasonic sensors can be installed with each WEBSTOP system. Depending on the width of the press, up to four sensors can be installed in each sensor bar. Sliding sensor brackets within the bars can be adjusted for optimum sensing positions. Sensor bars are easily installed and adjustable using either existing press frames or idler shafts where they are out of the way of press operation.
